We are from western Nebraska & the kids want to go to Omaha to the Henry Dorley Zoo. We just want to know what's in between.

The coolest thing is Lake McConaghy in western Nebraska! Half of Colorado comes here in the summer months.

Pioneer Village in Minden, The Archway in Kearney-it's over I-80, Fort Hartsuff near Ord, Dowse Sod House that direction near Comstock, The fish hatchery at the Calamus Dam, Stuhr Museum in Grand Island, Fort Kearny, Buffalo Bills Ranch near North Platte, The Hastings Museum-in Hastings of course, Ash Hollow, Windlass Hill, Scotts Bluff N.M. The Plainsman Museum in Aurora, there is a Military Vehicle museum in Lexington, The Strategic Air Command Museum and the The Aksarben Aquarium, between Omaha and Lincoln. The Union Pacific Museum in Omaha, and yes the Henry Doorly Zoo. Take a canoe or tube down the Niobrara near Valentine. There are outfitters and rentals there. .

Why, Nebraska? Seriously I live here. Go to Pioneer Village in Minden, and the zoo in Omaha. Then, your're pretty much done. So, count on like a day and a half. Have fun! If ya wait till football season, now that's a different story!

I'd highly suggest to just go one state up (South Dakota) or one state over (Colorado). I think the only cool thing for Nebraska is they have a couple badland formations in the west. Seriously, the Black Hills of South Dakota are much better vacation spot than what Nebraska can offer.

You really need to say where in Nebraska, or let people know you are going to drive all over the place, that is assuming you are driving and are not flying in.

Seriously, did you lose a bet? Nebraska for vacation. I am sure there are great places there, but just never heard of any. Of course the people will be nice. Midwesterners are raised to be nice you know.
See the resource below.

Memorial Stadium on a Saturday in the Fall is a good time ... other than that, skip the entire state!
