i gave a bum 3 bucks for food, instead of buying something to eat the bum bought 2 bottles of nite train wine. should i go back there and give that bum a beating???

You should not give him a beating, it will not solve anything. Instead you should consider helping in different ways. Maybe offer to go with the bum to buy his food or something. It may be more work, but it is the only way to keep them from buying things like that.

Never give a bum money. Instead ask him if he is hungry and give him food. Most times, unfortunately, when you give them money they use it on drugs, alcohol or worse.
And never assume that the bum is hungry. My friend had an encounter where she bought the bum a meal and gave the food to him. He took the food looked at it and said, "B****, I'm not hungry, I just want money!" and stamped on the bag of food.

first of all he is a human being not a bum you don't know the circumstances that has forced him to live like he dose. so don't be so judgmental. the fact that you gave him the $3.00 gave him the choice of buying food or wine once you give some one anything it becomes their property ,,,,, so don't even consider assaulting him..I have given money and food to people who are down on their luck not because i am trying to be a Good Samaritan but because i think that if i was in their position i would like it if some one helped me and treated me as a person, YES I AM MAD AT YOU AND YOUR ATTITUDE.

Well, considering he's a bum, he would probably buy alcohol. You ought to have considered that when you gave him the money. Next time buy some food.

I wouldn't suggest beating the guy, but you might try next time buying some food yourself and giving it to someone. That way, you know your money isn't being used for a negative purpose.

I learned after the first time. Every time after that, I actually buy them food. They either eat it, or it spoils. If they need clothes, give them clothing, etc... Same with none profit organizations. If they are having a fundraiser, or come knocking on your door for money to buy food with, give them the food , canned goods and the like. Now days, who knows if the money actually gets where it is supposed to.

No. But a good chewing out by him wouldn't be out of line at all. Because of what he has done, chances are, that someone who actually would have used the moeny for food, might not get it from you. And they can have him to thank for it....so go chew his tail off.

I don't think you should beat him up.
Ha-ha something like this happened to me once.
I saw this bum on the street and I felt sorry for him. So I rushed to the nearest Mcdonalds and bought him food. And then he tried to sell the food I bought him. I was like "WTF!? 0_o"
Anyways don't beat him up.
