the main parts of a CPU are
- ALU Arithmetic & Logic Unit
- MMU Memory Management Unit
- FPU FloatingPoint Unit
- L1 & L2 Cache
- FSB (Front Side Bus) Interface

Although CPU's have evolved greatly in the past years, the main parts remain close to the same:
1. Datapaths (such as ALUs and pipelines)
2. Logic which controls the datapaths
3. Memory components such as register files, caches
4. Clock circuitry such as clock drivers, PLLs, clock distribution networks
5. Pad transceivers circuitry
6. Logic gate cell library which is used to implement the logic
These parts may be represented with different names by different manufacturers, but the above are the main components. CPU's take bits, perform mathematical/other operations, and then reroute the data to where it is going (eg: disk, RAM, network car, etc.)

The different parts that are used to make the cpu are
1.Motherboard it is the planner board on which all other divices are connected it transfers data as well as power supply to them

2.processor it is the brain of the computer e.x P4,AMD sampron ,celeron etc

3.RAM is the memory module responsible for handelling data currently required by the processor.

4.Hard Disk id the storage where all the information is kept

5. CD/rw/r the drive to read or write to dvd, cd

6. Floppy drive it is a drive which enables you to use 1.44' floppy

7.Cabinet to organise and assemble above mentined products

8. SMPS Switch mode power supply to power all the devises

in addition to this it can also have
Lan card to connect you to network and modem to connect you to dial up internet connection the other devises are specific to requirement and may varry fron computer to computer

The actual CPU is just one chip (unless you have dual processors) that plugs into a motherboard socket. Typically made by AMD or Intel.
