When I turn the key my car just clicks. I have a 1990 Lincoln Towncar. It's not the starter, or the alternator. We are at a lost.

well you said it isn't the starter or alternator but have you checked the battery and the battery cables one might be loose or corroded

I agree, loose or corroded cables. You say its not the starter, so I assume you know how to check it out properly and its not frozen. Sometimes the bushes get worn to the point where they do not make contact, or just get stuck, ( frozen). If this were the care, taking a small hammer and tapping the started lightly would usually free them up and if that were the case, you would already have taken the starter out and replaced them. But you did not mention the solenoid. Which is located elsewhere. First I would do as everyone suggests and check the cables for corrosion and make sure they are tight, the follow to the solenoid.

When was the last time you replaced the battery. Check the cables to see if they are all corroded or anything.

It could be your battery. One click, or several fast clicks? Is your distrubutor cap on tight, all the spark plug wires on securely? Have you checked your fuses? Your ignition fuse could be blown...
