I'm not understanding what the word "broken" means. Are you saying you can't boot anymore? Cuse you really shouldn't mess with the MBR if you don't have to...here's a good website to help you out...http://www.brienposey.com/kb/repairing_the_mbr.asp

You can repair the MBR from the XP install Disk (you are running XP I"m assuming)

Run Setup, use the option for the Repair Console.
Type chkdsk /fix
When the job is done, type Exit.
Reboot.
