They guy seems like a living saint to me and yet he constantly does low in the polls. Even among Republicans. Just the fact that he came out of all those years as a POW and was not a dribbling idiot amazes me. Is there some weird side of him I'm not seeing?

The reason why John McCain is not a good candidate is because he is a hypocrite, plain and simple. He just goes with whatever is popular. For instance, he is all about taking violent and sexually suggestive themed shows off of television, and then does a cameo in the movie wedding crashers which is "considered" profane and sexually suggestive. Yeah, he might be a war veteran but he only gets voted in the senate all the time cuz of his "nice-guy" image and because people in Arizona are STUPID.

He is a good guy. During the first run for the presidency he was himself and lost the nomination. This time around he's playing politics by doing things like going to Liberty University (Faldwell's school). However, should he get the nomination and ultimately the presidency, I assume the "maverick" in him would re-emerge. I definitely would hope for that. In the mean-time, I forgive him for his pandering and politicking.

John McCain is one of the main persons on the senate for amnesty for illegals,he also has no intention of securing our border, that along with his agreement on the war in Iraq is going to turn a lot of pissed off voters away from him.His chances are slim to none in getting the nomination

He is a very viable candidate and I will vote for him! I believe he does not want to come out too early on his aspirations, as many do not... even Hillary hasn't said what she will do and we all know she is drooling for the White House...McCain will be a great President! Here is his website: http://mccain.senate.gov/

You forget that he was part of the "Keating 5" in the late '80s. You know .. the Savings and Loan scandal where lots of old folks lost all their retirement? And you KNOW who goes to the polls.

Reformed saint, maybe. Living saint ... well

he doesn't take the Republican crap without thinking about it like every other republican does, so they hate him for it...

You can't disagree with what the party thinks in the Republican party... McCain is a CLEAR example of that... groupthink will kill the GOP chances in 2008...

he's their best chance, but may not get the nod because he's not "Republican" enough

He is to liberal for the far right repuglican idiots. He is to far right for the moderate repuglicans and the democrat crossover vote. He is not against abortion or gay marriage. He will never score good except in the more moderate states.
