Thanks! Actually I am pretty ignorant about the situation there, hense the question. In Canada the Conservatives got in and according to the media many people hate them. So I'm not really assuming anything, just asking.

public opinion can change over time. generally, those who are dissatisfied choose to voice thier opinion more loudly than those who are satisfied. if you think about when you are out at a restaurant and the food is cold, the waiter is rude, and the place is dirty, you complain to the manager. if your experience was good, on the other hand, with hot tasty food, a kind waiter, and a clean restaurant, do you find the manager and tell him how good it was? probably not. what most people hear and what the polls reflect can be skewe depending upon what quesiton is asked and how it is asked. while bush is having some problems in the polls, and worldwide opinion of him is not very good, the american people in general are happy with the president, you just dont hear much from the people who are satisfied.

the alternative in the last election was John Kerry. John Kerry was more liberal than bush, and in general had a more passive view on how to deal with the terrorist element and other threats to our national security. the american people wanted somebody who has been firm and consistent, not passive and inconsistent in their views and beliefs. that is why bush won his second term

in america, presidents serve 4 year terms. the election is in november and the winner takes office in january. after world war two, presidents were limited to 2 terms in office for a total of 8 years. bush's second term expires in 2008

The next President will be elected on the first Tuesday after the First Monday in November, 2008. However, Bush will remain President until January 20, 2009 at 12:00 Noon.

Many people did not like Bush during the 2004 Election. However, I believe that many were frightened about the war, and what might happen if someone else won. They didn't consider the possibility that the other guy (John Kerry) WAS a former (combat) soldier & knew that an immediate pullout would be wrong. However, the Republicans were able to convince enough swing voters that he would enact an immediaite pullout.

There was also a HUGE slander campaign where they got some Vietnam soldiers who NEVER SERVED WITH KERRY to say how bad of a person & soldier he was. True, he's a lifetime politician (which has it's ups and downs), but most of the campaign was slander.

Anyway, Kerry lost 51%-48%, with Bush winning both Electoral College & Popular Vote (didn't happen in 2000). Things have happened in the last few years, which, had they came to light BEFORE the 2004 Election, would have cost Bush has second term & Kerry would have one. Such as: Illegal Wiretapping, CIA Agent identity leak, various other political scandals, more troops deaths in Iraq, and general poor leadership.

He didn't get much more of the popular vote than the loser. In 2000 he actually got less of the popular vote than the loser. The problem is that the United States is *very* politically polarized right now so people vote for the guy for their party and not the best man for the job.

The alternative in 2004 was John Kerry. In my opinion he was better than Bush, but he was certainly not an exciting inspiring alternative.

The president is limited to 2 4 year terms by the Constitution so Bush will not be president in 2009.

Many people voted for him because they liked him then and they still like him now. There is a two term limit on the Office of President, and the next election is 2008. The reason you think nobody likes him, is due to the obvious bias in reporting by the mainstream liberal media. Don't believe everything you hear or read. Have a nice day!

There is a term called Silent Majority, how do you get the impression that no one likes GWB? You can't judge the majority opinion of a country with 3 hundred million people by simply reading some liberal blogs, of course, that depends on you asking this question in seriousness, instead of attempting to confirm your pre-conceptions, there is a core group of voters who liked GWB very much, and there is many more people who simply didn't trust Kerry, Kerry and the Democratic party as a whole's failure to offer any real alternatives didn't help either, fighting wars may not be the best solution many people sought, but it's better and a lot more concrete that being nice to everybody and hoping they wouldn't attack you in return, it may not be an accurate description of Democrat, but that's the impression, and instead of fighting the impression, the Democrat and Kerry made it worse. That's why they lost, you can't fight something with nothing, and most people didn't believe playing nice would resolve the problems.

Bush was elected because Kerry didn't have a good promotional team and Bush's promotional team is highly skilled and filled with people known for dirty tricks. There are so many points at which Kerry could have overshadowed Bush, but his team didn't seem to be able to identify the opportunities.

Like for instance Bush multiple times said straight out that Kerry shouldn't be elected because he is said to be liberal. The response Kerry team had was don't listen to labels. The response they should have had was outrage that a president would insult a large group of americans(liberals) and trying to divide the country while claiming to unify.

Bush had the correct people promoting him, Kerry didn't.

Bush is on his last term, thank the lord. Hopefully he won't distroy too many more people's lives.

He got elected for his first time by making a bunch of empty promises. He got elected the second time because Americans were afraid the candidates that were following after him would mess things up worse than they were. He can serve two terms of four years each.
I personally believe that there were WMAs, in iraq and because the UN would not allow us in to look for five months. We had to go into the country of Iraq without the UN's consent. Then nine months after we go in, now fourteen months after the 9/11 attacks, Iran shows up with a large amount of uranium, that over the last three years has been turned into very rich uranium, and Nucular power. So, I have no arguement with them on that point. But, his out right neglence of the American ppl is what turns my stomach, and has made me much less trusting of the new candidates, and they are really gonna have to put themselves out there to get my vote.

You mostly hear from crying Liberal sore losers in here. In the last election GW won by a solid majority. Kerry conceded quickly. Our next Presidential election is in November 2008. Presidents can only serve two 4 year terms.

Fortunately, we have term limits and he cannot run for President again. The next election will be in 2008, so we'll be rid of him as of January 20, 2009.
Plenty of people like him, although I don't know why. It's just more and more of them are finally figuring out that he's a lousy president. Too bad they couldn't see this before, as some of us could. I don't blame you for being confused; I'm sure the rest of the world thinks the U.S. is crazy for electing this guy twice.

Elections are about getting your people to the polls.

Young people tend to be the most liberal, and the most outspoken/passionate about issues. But they have so much going on in their life (school, family, etc) that they are unreliable voters, and didn't come out on election day.

Old people tend to be more conservative. They are retired, so they can afford to wait in long lines to cast votes. They are very reliable voters.

So even though the polls indicate that President Bush is unpopular, it really comes down to who votes on election day - and the people who actually got out and pulled the level (punched the chads?) were for President Bush.
