You can usually get the glue off by using duck tape. Blot the sticky side of the tape on the glue that is on the plastic. The glue on the tape will pick up the glue on the plastic item. It may take doing it repeatedly a few times to get all the glue off the plastic.

goof-off works great - but it stinks. I have used it to get sticker glue off of several items and it also works well if you accidentally use a shapie permanent marker on a dry erase board :)

You can pick it up at most super markets, home improvement, and craft stores.
