I doubt it. A child is required by federal law to attend school. if they hold the transcripts they will be hindering your child from doing what is demanded by law.. They can take you to court and sue you but not "harm" your child's education.. The bill is yours not your child's, they cannot take legal action against a minor.. They're just using a scare tactic..But really you should go ahead and pay that bill cause chances are that they will come after you in small claims court. If your child was in college it would be a different matter.
Report cards and transcripts are not the same thing, when it is time for your child to go back to school, they must release the trascripts..otherwise it would be the same thing as a hospital holdin yo baby hostage until you pay the bill..

Public school in Texas can hold a report card for unpaid library fines, so I'm guessing a private school, that usually has it's own internal rules and regulations rather than those of the state's public institutions can do the same thing.

It's a private school. Of course it's legal. They provided a service, and you have not paid them for that service.

Go read the fine print for whatever school the kid is in...that will tell you what rights you have versus the rights of the school.

Nobody here can answer your particular question, you have to research it.

See a lawyer and pay his bill. Or, pay the school bill.

Yes it is.

You bought a service - an education - and didn't pay for it. So, they can withhold your credentials until you pay for their services.
