My advice for you would be to check-out some older movies that you haven't seen. If you liked movies such as Saw, than I would recommend Cube. If you like action movies, than The Italian Job would be great.
It may not be a movie, but I'm hooked on the oldMission Impossible t.v. series. I just check them out from the library.

You could go hang outside of a mini mart and point out the short comings of others, or you could try checking out movies that have a point and make you think, which should be easy to find if you check out most Sundance films or award winners.

Have you seen The Lion in Winter? Or, Lawrence of Arabia?
These aren't lesser films, but it's surprising how few people have actually seen them. They are both films with real impact, and BIG stories.
It's merely a coincidence that Peter O'Toole is in both.

I'd recommend seeing "Brick" if it's still in any cinemas where you live. Independant film Noir set in a high school, it really is a great film.
Aside from that, go out and rent "Donnie Darko", "Ghost in the Shell" (anime) or "Serenity" - those are my top lesser known films choices.
