Please check your sources. The anime ended at episode 167 and all members of the group are still alive and chasing after Naraku. The manga is presently at chapter 462 and again all members are still alive. Rumiko Takahashi has said that she would continue the series until chapter 500. There hasn't been any resolution of the Kikyou / InuYasha / Kagome love triangle yet. And Naraku is still around so the final battle for the Shikon jewel hasn't happened . I read the translated manga chapters, so as of this week , all of the InuYasha gang are still here.
