Just be there for her... when she is ready to smile again you will be there. and make sure you tell her how you feel for her, and make sure to smile for her often, adn reassure her that YOU aren't going away. Give her plenty of hugs, support and room if she needs alone time.

You don't ask easy questions do you? Honestly.....She's not going to smile until she's ready. I lost my mom a couple of years ago after a long illness. She had to have surgery on her heart and she survived long enough for the doctor to come and tell the family that the surgery went well, but by time he got back to her she was cardiac arrest. There's no one who could ever replace a mom. So don't try to push her to smile or be happy. It won't happen until she's ready, but your doing the right thing because you love her. Your there for her. If she feels like crying, let her. Sometimes she just has to get it out. Remind her of the happy things she has done with her mother or some funny story she may have told you about something that happened between her and her mom. Your doing great, because you're there for her and she may not be able to tell you now, but she'll always remember it.

It takes such a long time to grieve the loss of a parent. I was in a fog for a whole year after my Dad died. I was 17 and a freshman in college. I was so sad that everything seemed to make me cry that reminded me of him. I think the best thing that made me smile at the time was just having someone to talk to, someone who really listened to me, when I wanted to talk about my Dad. Try to have your girlfriend talk about her mum and the fun times that she shared with her. Talking about someone who has passed away keeps their memory alive, that's the most important thing, remembering all the good times that were shared.

Time will help her but are you sure there isn't some other issue going on?No one can replace her Mother but as a Mom I wouldn't want my daughters to stay sad like she is doing.Tell her to think of a good memory of her Mom and tomorrow think of another one. One day at a time some things you just can't hurry.Stand by her ,she will smile again.

Take her away for a weekend... does she like the idea of a spa? Well, surprise her... if she likes spas.. take her to a spa... get her the works... take her to a movie.... dinner.. flowers... ..
if that's not her cup of tea....
Get a small photo of her mum... and get a nice locket.. put the photo in it... if there's a side for two pics.. maybe there's one of her and her mum you can put in... buy her some flowers.. make her a nice dinner.. and give her the flowers (maybe some mums) with the locket around them.... and a card...
It can take a long time for somebody to get over the loss of somebody they love dearly. My aunte passed away 2 years ago.. she was very special to me. It took a long time before I smiled.. but it took a gesture from my wife to do it... and it worked..
time heals all wounds..

Ask her to tell you the best thing about her mom and the worst thing about her. Then maybe take a trip. Always validate her death never say forget about it because she never will. Be there for support and conversation. A Day Spa is always relaxing My condolences. Good Luck!

Ask her if she would like to talk about her mom because you would like to hear about her, and if she has any pictures of her you would like to see them. Sometimes when a person loses someone, and everyone else doesn't know what to say, it can make them hesitant to talk about it. Best Wishes!!
