It really is not much of a competiton the answer is Kobe Bryant. He has a great jumpshot, can drive the lane and plays great D. And when he wants to he can pass. And he is probably the most clutch player in the NBA.
Wade might get to that level someday but he has to become better at not turning over the ball and his jumpshot is suspect. His defense is starting to take shape.
James does not have the outside all-around game Kobe has yet, or the lock down defensive capabilities but he is the second best and will probably surpass Bryant in a few years.
Dirk is not strong enough to dominate his position. Nash can't play D and he can be a very sloppy player.
Anthony is not even in the top ten. So my list is:
1. Bryant
2. James
3. Wade
4. Iverson
5. Nowitzki
6. Nash
7. Tim Duncan
8. Shaq
9. Garnett
10. Arenas
11. Anthony

Kobe Bryant.
Dwayne Wade, Lebron James, and Tim Duncan can all make claims, but if you're talking about the single best, it's still gotta be Kobe. 81 points, great defense, he's still the top dog. Certainly not the best teammate, but yet the best player.

I cant believe how everyone picked the show off players and then they leave this guy out. Kevin Garnett is the best player because he carries an entire team alone, period...he is tall for rebounds, faster than many other PFs and Cs, he is a great shooter.

KOBE........scoring 81 in ONE game: that same night blazer/mavs were playing and blazers only scored 79 kobe woulda outscored a WHOLE team in one game if he woulda played them.
he scored 62 thru 3 while the runner-up mavs had only 61 and he SAT out the WHOLE FOURTH QTR....
led nba in scoring at 35.4
and he took so much b.s. bout peepl calling him selfish like he shoulda went for 100 in the game vs. the mavs and then when he scored 81 they said he was TOO selfish and needed to pass more....... game 4 suns/lakers kobe only made ONE fg in the fourth quarter no one said any thing about it bc they won and then in game 7 err one was saying he was too selfish bc he didnt try to take over and only had like 1 pt in the second half...... but no one realized he was trying to make his teammates get into the game so there defense would pick-up.
i think he is the best bc he scores and he really does make his team better bc he plays at such a high, his teammates train harder and play harder when he is on the floor.... did any one know of smuch parker before last season????? hell no they didnt he turned l.o. (lamar odom) into a man and cris mihm had a great season and if he was healthy they probly woulda swept the suns but IF is a huge word and besides all that who would you want to shoot the last shot of a game 7 in the nba finals??????
steve nash........no
lebron............not yet
iverson.........never hit a game winning shot in his life
melo.......not better clutch than kobe
wade.............right up there
kobe...........of course it would be nan nuther than kobe himself aka the true mvp
kobe and wade are the 1.2 kobe 1 and wade 2 then bron

Steve Nash for setting up plays and shooting threes. Kobe Bryant for scoring points. And Dwayne Wade for shooting threes and lay-ups. I would prefer Steve Nash and Dwayne Wade because they are both MVP's. Also I think Lebron James is a pretty good player because he could slam dunk well.

1. Kobe
2. Lebron
3. Dwane
Although arguably Lebron/Dwane can be switched to 3/2 positions.
Without a doubt Kobe is at a different level...
