I want to sell custom boards on ebay.
In today's crazy world, I'm a bit afraid of being sued. If they can find in favor of a woman who spills coffee on her lap, I can certainly get in trouble if someone wipes out on one of my boards and blames the board. It happens - and I have assets to protect.
Another thing is privacy from my ex, my creditors etc.

One way around it would be to incorporate, get product liability insurance - etc etc etc. I really don't want the hassle since I don't even know if it would sell well.

I just want to run a respectable business with the ability to keep my privacy.

Anyone know how?

sell it through someone else or sell it yourself with a responsibility disclaimer attached to the selling agreement - state in the selling agreement that by bidding and purchasing they understand that they are responsible for correct usage and any injuries caused by useage. That the seller can not be responsible for improper useage (or something like that).

I heard that in NYC a homeless man was injuried when he fell asleep inside a dumpster so he sued the city and won. It was determined that if the city would have put a sign on the dumpster that stated "no sleeping in the dumpster" the man could not have won the case. now all dumpster in NYC have that sign on them.
it called a "disclaimer"

bottom line: sell them your self with a disclaimer attached

Very few people will buy from an anonymous source as the possibility to get ripped off is just too high.

Instead consider having your customers sign a legal contract before they buy the board, where they idemnify you of the losses.

Put a label on your board "Warning: this board is extremely dangerous and should not be ridden by anyone at any time. DO NOT attempt to stand on, ride, jump or utilise this item in any way."

Too easy!

please don't do this ... businesses have to be accountable ... you mitigate risk by buying insurance, appropriate contracting and good business practices ...
