Yes, way too many to list but here are a few:
"The Red Tent" Anita Diamant
"Prodigal Summer" Barbara Kingsolver
"The Poisonwood Bible" Barbara Kingsolver
"The Grapes of Wrath" John Steinbeck
"Of Human Bondage" Somerset Maugham
"The Wickedest Angel" Taylor Caldwell
"Atlas Shrugged" Ayn Rand
Most of the stuff that Charles Dickens wrote
"The Good Earth" Pearl Buck
"Hiroshima" John Hersey
"Night" Elie Wiesel
"The War of the Worlds" H. G. Wells
My philosophy and the only piece of great wisdom that I can impart to you right now is this:
Read all you can, as much as you can, when ever you can
When ever I get too big for my britches I like to go into a library, look around and realize how many great books I have yet to read.
Have a great read today and every day :O)

I think Ivan Klima's short stories are beautiful. Here is a quote from the short story 'Honeymoon':
"and he thought to himself, I hate you. Because you make a game out of what for me is love and because you are my only and final future while for you I am simply a moment that's already passing."

"There was no promise that we should not be tempasted and travailed - but there WAS a promise."

the "Dune" series by Frank Herbert....wow.....especially "Dune", "God Emporer of Dune" & "Chapterhouse: Dune". Kevin Herbert & Brian Anderson continued the Dune novels and they too are great...but just not the touch that Frank Herbert had.
