The routine bloodwork your doctor did would have come back positive for diabetes if you were diabetic. You are anxious about this situation because you have seen so much of it in your family. The best prevention for diabetes when you are 41 yrs old is to lose weight if you need to and exercise daily ! If you are obese, the chances of you becoming diabetic increase. I think you will be okay. Good Luck !

Yes and with your family history you should let your doctor know so you can get your blood tested often. Sometimes a simple urine test is all that's need to let them know where you stand and if something shows up there, they will set you up for more in-depth blood testing.

Diabetes prevention is proven, possible, and powerful. Studies show that people at high risk for type 2 diabetes can prevent or delay the onset of the disease by losing 5 to 7 percent of their body weight. You can do it by eating healthier and getting 30 minutes of physical activity 5 days a week. In other words: you don't have to knock yourself out to prevent diabetes. The key is: small steps that lead to big rewards. Learn more about your risk for developing type 2 diabetes and the small steps you can take to delay or prevent the disease and live a long, healthy life.

In the meantime, eat healthy. Watch your sugar intake. Don't drink alcohol - it's loaded with sugar and if you drink pop - drink the diet type, and not too much of it. Watch candy, sugar coated cereal and all other sweets.

Eat a lot of fruit, veggies and drink fresh water.

I'm a 45 year old woman and was recently diagnosed as being a borderline diabetic. My doctor prescribed some medication, but before filling it I decided to do some research on the internet which led me to the methods. After reading this ebook and applying the methods, my scepticism turned to 100% belief. I noticed that my energy levels increased significantly and I felt more rested in the morning, my symptoms started going away.

I am very happy to tell you that I have been feeling better than I have felt in years and my doctor informed me that he will be taking me off my prescriptions if I keep this up.

I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

YES! There is a special test for your blood sugar, and if you have a family history of diabetes, you should most definately take the blood test. I am surprised that your Dr. did not request a test considering your history.
It is a simple fasting blood draw (do it in the morning!) and they can check your glucose levels.
It is better to stay on top of it than to try to correct it later! You are at the age to monitor this annually.
Don't wait, call your Dr. tomorrow :)

A1C can check the last three months of you blood sugars. I am A diabetic myself and I had what they call Adult onset Diabetes they can hit at any age it would have been helpful to know your race as diabetes tends to hit hispanics and african americans faster and harder. Just be sure to get your eyes checked every six months they will likely be the first to let you know if and when you get it. God speed and good luck keep in shape as well

The best thing you can do is try to prevent diabetes. Ask your doctor what can you do in terms of medication, nutrition and exercise that can maybe delay the onset of diabetes. Also you should be monitored more often than other people, so that if there is any signs of the disease you can start treatment earlier.

Good luck!

there is no certain age when a person can become diabetic. my father found out he was diabetic around the age of 40. a way you can get tested for your blood sugar level, is by going to get your blood taken; it will show your sugar level.
my dad realized he was diabetic when he began to drink around 6 cans of regular soda during the night. he would wake up craving something to drink and as the number of cans increased, we knew somethign was wrong. also, you could be cold/getting the chills and sweating.
im worried about becoming diabetic as well because it runs through my family, so i take yearly blood tests.

if it runs in your family you are more at risk of attaining it. you can be born with it or it can pop up anytime within your lifespan when you tend to have poor eating habits which many Americans do have due to all the fast food, tv dinners and, preservatives within our foods also the expense of so called all natural foods doesn't help make eating healthier any easier, be active swim-alot, take aerobics at the gym and prolong your life it not easy but what is ,also pass the word on so that next generations can have a role model and a support system live by example first preach when needed. and be happy always never let them see you down (^_^)
