It can get up to 120 degrees Fahrenheit on my porch!

Basil can handle a lot of sun, as can most herbs, but your's may be pretty stressed out.
Pinching it back (about 1/2 way down the stem) usually makes it leaf out more lower down. That will result in a bushier plant and keep it from going to flower.

Pinch the tops. that will force the plant to "bush out" more. Don't forget to use the leaves you pinch off! Fresh basil, olive oil, mozzeralla and tomatoes... YUMM!

Can you bring it inside and set it near a sunny window? I grow all sorts of herbs, including basil on my kitchen window sill.

Picking leaves off of it regularly will encourage it to be more leafy.
