All women become like their mothers. That is their tragedy. No man does. That is his.

Whether you like it or not, you are influenced by the people who raise you. Consider someone who travels from a northern US state to a southern one, or vice versa; in short order, their accent changes to suit the new environment, and that's for an adult interacting casually -- imagine how much influence your mother has had on you over the years!

The trick, then, is being as self-aware as possible, and when you know you're behaving in a way you don't like -- whether it reminds you of your mother or not -- stop, take a step back, and handle the same situation again in a completely different way. If it works better for you, keep doing that, until it becomes natural. Tah-dah! Suddenly you've influenced your own actions, in a conscious effort to improve. You can move mountains that way.

I would say because she's the one you've spent your whole life around. It might also be a genetic thing. I know with my wife, when we first met, she wasn't anything like her Mom, but now, 20 years later, I'm starting to see a lot of behavior patterns that her Mom always had. I hope this helps. Good luck!

Probably the same reason men marry women just like their mothers. Because a mother is the most important & influential person in someones life - whether they like it or not.

Thats the model they grow up with on how to be a woman. They can read books or go to therapy, talk with other women to find other ways of doing it. Then maybe you will only be 50% like your mom anyway.

Mainly because you aren't trying hard enough not too. You do have her genes, right? So, there has to be a effort made to make a difference in your actions over time than what you've lived through during your growing years.

I know what you mean sometimes I act like my mom, and I hate it because I wanna act like myself, but I don't know who that is? Just change your actions. Easier said then done, but it's all possible.

Good Luck

That is so funny. I think we all turn into our mothers at some point in our lives. After all, she was the woman we learned from!
