The first link is excellent and I will include some things from it. It also offers the observation that throughout history, "disliked minority groups" have been stereotyped as a threat to society's most vulnerable members, from the Middle Ages when Jews were accused of murdering Christian babies in ritual sacrifice to the "threat" Black men posed to White women.
The study most often quoted as demonstrating that homosexual men were more likely to molest children was done by Paul Cameron. Cameron, however, misrepresented all male-male molestation as being commited by homosexuals He also went so far as to claim that male to female molesters were often bisexual, and "misquoted" (lied) about other studies in order to skew his data further.
It goes on to list two other studies including a study by Dr. Carole Jenny which showed that in the 352 emeregency room cases she studied, the molester was a gay or lesbian adult in only 2 of the 269 cases in which an adult molester could be identified – fewer than 1%.
I wish I could find the study that shows that something like 80% of male-male child molesters are in a sexual relationship with the boys' mothers, and I hesitate to quote that much, but it's such a good stat.

I don't have any specific studies for national numbers, however I had the opportunity to monitor a program for sex offenders here in Fort Worth, Texas for over a year.
Out of 260 sex offenders in the program, only 16 were homosexuals. The homosexuals were almost all there for public lewdness, not child molestation. Only 3 of the 16 had sex with a minor, and one of them it was a prostitute who claimed to be 17
This program was a court mandated program for sex offenders..

Well first of all there is a difference between sex offenders and child molestation, because for intance, if a 18 yr old guy dates a 16 yr old girl, they have sex, guy breaks up with girl, girl gets mad, girls parents call cops on guy, guy goes to jail and has to register as a sex offender. Then there is a guy, with a mental illness who molests a child! Eithere way child molestation is an illness, and being gay isn't! But anyway, i don't think there have been any studies done. And when it comes to children, i don't think it matters, because it's a crime, especially when it comes to children!

As others have already pointed out, gays and lesbians are far LESS likely to sexually abuse children, than are heterosexuals.
An adult male who sexual molests a boy most often leads an otherwise heterosexual life (married to a woman, dates women, admits attraction to women) and therefore should be classified as a heterosexual and a pedophile. Also, these type of men have often also sexually molested girl children too.
...and, according to the American Psychological Association, the vast majority of male HOMOsexual pedophiles are schitzophrenic, which should be taken into consideration when it comes to assigning blame, determining what treatments they should be getting and could have been getting to prevent their crimes, how best to design punishment/rehabilitation, etc.
What frustrates me the most about the way in which people talk about child sex abuse these days though, has nothing to do with the offenders, but with who they choose to focus on as victims. Just as the media often gives more coverage to white victims of crime than black ones, the media loves to talk of sexual abuse committed on boys while ignoring the plight of female victims--I have especially seen this with the Catholic Church scandals, whererin Catholics seemed more outraged that their priests had acted in ways that might be construed as homosexual, than that they had committed rapes.

I don't know the statistics but i know straight men are more likely to be sex offenders, they did a study about it i think it was like the FBI's behavior science department, it was also on Penn and Tellers Bulls*** the episode about boy scouts.
Being gay has nothing to do with molestation Gay men are attracted to other gay men and not children.

It's hard to find anything "reliable" about such a topic. Most christian websites inflate ,exaggerate, hide their statistics. Anyway they have nothing to do with each other. It's like saying what percentage of men have blond hair? If your tall are you more likely to have blond hair?
