Dump it and go buy the MP3 players by Creative. (Zen Micro, etc)
They developed the software that Apple uses in their iPods so they originated the format. Also, their batteries are removable and you can buy spares for around $40.
With the iPod when the battery gives out, that's it. You're done.
Apple tricked a LOT of people into buying an inferior product.
By the way, I bought the iPod mini and then found out all the above information three months later when I was hired to rep Creative's MP3 players. I WISH I had bought one of these. When my iPod finally does die, I will.

Apple has a battery service where they charge you a fee of somewhere in the $65 range I believe. Or you could also buy online from the many different iPod battery suppliers. If your iPod isn't even old and you believe it may be faulty, take it into an Apple Store since they give out iPods like candy. Good Luck and I hope you solve your problem :)

Look on the website and see if you can find info on recalls. My daughter's IPOD which was one of the original ones (4 years old now I believe) got a letter talking about a recall and a class action law suit on the battery. Maybe yours has the same problem.

Your battery ACTUALLY DIED! You have to get in touch with Apple and send in your iPod and they will replace the battery. Happens to everyone!

change the battery, rechargable batteries don't last forever. my portable dvd player needs to change its battery after 500 charges.
