What would the domestic (American) effects be off a nuclear war between India and Pakistan?

If you can answer this you are truly awesome! Also, sorry if it sounds inconsiderate to only ask about what would happen to America, it's just that I'm writing an essay on how various stuff would effect AMERICA.

Well the prevalence of nuclear weapons and nuclear testing this might end up a nuke war, if that happened we might feel the effects of light fall out and that might have an effect on crops and live stock, a jolt to the economy and it would probably make the prices of things imported from India and Pakistan shoot through the roof, there might be a little panic from the religious types that think that it's the end of the world, maybe some rioting over sea's from members of Indian and Pakistani faiths and some violent street confrontations here and there, and maybe some mass suicides, but hey there's absolutely nothing to worry about because we can take care of our selves right.

Since we are closely allied with India, our government MIGHT feel obligated to assist. HOWEVER! America has never really supported India's quest for nuclear power, so perhaps we would only assist by financial aid and support via physicians and military.
The Pakistani contingent in America may protest. Most Indians and Pakistanis living in the U.S.A. are very well educated, so the likelihood of riots wouldn't be high from them; they would probably find ways to demonstrate effectively.
If key cities in either or both nations were destroyed, we might find ourselves involved in assisting with a massive clean-up project.

First fear would throw our population in a panic. Then the economic turmoil would result in a world wide depression. The politicians sensing a way to gain power would use the situation to take over. We could end up with our constitution suspended and a dictatorship in its place. Pray it never happens.
