I'm in level 7 gymsnastics, and I just hyperextended my knee while doing a dismount off uneven bars. I went to the doctor, and he put me on crutches. My knee hurts like heck, and I dont know what to do. Should I quit, I dont want this to happed again. I mean I dont mind spraining my ankle onnce in a while, but this is serious. I'm so bummed I have to miss a tennis match b/c of this. :( How long will it take to heal. What can I do for the pain? Thanks!

Well, your doc should be answering/helping you with these questions. Have you thought about going to a sports medicine doc? You also may need some physical therapy. I was a gymnast many years ago and busted my hip so bad I could barely walk... needless to say, that was the end the road for me... but I was never level seven... I wish you the best of recovery... if you love it, stick with it... just get proper care from a doc and not the message board! :)

see an arthroscopic surgeon.
period.

only a good clinical exam after the initial pain and spasm has gone will reveal the problem.nothing else, not even an MRI, is that good.

by the way, you wont have to quit. arthroscopy has answers to almost all problems
