First, get rid of the brackets (multiply the terms inside the brackets by -1):

7-2x^2 +2x -2 -2x -5 +2x^2

Collect like terms:

2x^2 -2x^2 +2x -2x +7-2-5 = 0

It's easy to see the sum is zero.

This looks like a homework problem.

Consider, like terms are terms that have the same variables (thats the letters not the numbers). An X^2 variable is not the same as an X.

So, in this example we have terms with no X (plain numbers), terms with X, and terms with X^2.

You can easily collect the like terms now right?

okay, the ones that are like NO X
7 and -5
the ones that are like X
2X and -2X (the first 2X is positive because of the negative sign at the start of the parenthesis
the ones that are like X^2
-2X^2 and +2X2

so (7-5) + (2X-2X) + (-2X^2 + 2X^2)

I suspect that one point of the excersize is to show that the whole expresion resolves to the number "2".

Okay, now do the rest of your homework yourself.
