I am a film director. I have dealt with actors who tend to get shy when placed in certain situations. The best advice I give you aside from working with you personally is to find beginning acting classes in your area. Sign up for them. Tell the instructor from the very beginning about your shyness and that you want to use this to help break the fear.

Trust me, the first time you perform a scene in front of a group of people and they applaud your work, the shyness will melt.

Well, i wanna be an actress someday too...and i'm pretty shy. Pretty shy as in shy when i'm around people. But i did a musical this year where i was one of the lead roles, and people told me i'm a natural at acting and singing and dancing. I wasn't afraid on stage, i had tons of fun. And all my shyness went away. I guess what i'm trying to say is that, focus on your character and forget all the shyness you have inside yourself. Be confident. Good luck!

You don't have to stop being shy, you just work around it. Thats' why most people become actorst to begin with, they were and are shy people. But playing other people on stage or in the movies, they are not being themselves, and that makes it easy for them. They have scriptwriters to write all their words down. So being shy doesn't matter.
So go for it, take some acting classes, you will find, that you aren't the only shy one there.

My man is the shyest. He doesn't even like me to record him. He always wants to be the cameraman. Now his life passion is to become an actor just like you. Once he began going to classes he realized that you get so indulged in the acting that you don't even feel shy. You become a completely different person. Once you are in front of that camera you become that character and any shyness you have automatically disappears.

Some actors are rather shy and basically hide behind the characters they play. They aren't all the bravest people in the world. Good luck. ; )

Be yourself. Maybe go karokeing, people there will applaude you and don't really seem to care how you sound, and it's a good way to get your confidence up and break out of your shyness.

I don't think you have to lose all your shyness to become a famous actress. In fact, it could add to your character.

Go to a mall and talk to everyone you see. Smile and say Hi and start a conversation.
