Bipolar is more alternating cycles of manic and depressed episodes. Mania includes lack of sleep, excessive energy, some extreme people feel like they won't die no matter what they do (ie they think they could fly or take a drug and not die from it etc).
They usually have some creative outbursts like they're be able to write or paint etc. But not all people are like that. Then the opposite cycle is depression, and they'll usually have the opposite amount of energy and views on life (ie sleeping problems, and lack of being able to be aroused from an unhappy continous state.)
ADD is usually diagnosed with children, but sometimes it can be missed and found in adulthood (that's especially true with girls because they're usually misdiagnosed). Its not the case that the kid has to be bouncing off the wall, but just can't focus on most things, yet they are able to focus and concentrate on something that intrests them. So maybe they don't like math, and won't focus. But give them a dinosaur book and they'll sit for hours going over information.

If you think you are one or the other you should definately go visit a psychologist in your area (go the American Psychological Association web site to get the name of a licensed psychologist in your area).
Self diagnosis is VERY BAD when it comes to psychological disorders because the public ideas about the symptoms is quiet skewed from what a psychologist actually looks for.
For your own well being just see a psychologist!

bi polar is an alternating stae of mainia and dipression.
Attention deficit disorder is the loss of attention when it is needed. both are behavior related.
I believe that ADD is more of a control issue devised by parents and teacher to contorl students and now being used by employers to control workers. in some cases students may seek to get individualized help from teacher by using a diagnosis of ADD.
Bipolar is a longer standing variations in behavior which cause dramatic changes in an individual. a person with bipolar may work hard to get a job only to quit that job when the depressive episode hit them. it is mor likely to be diagnosed in young adult than teenagers. while ADD is more likly to be diagnosed in children than adults.
