Epcot is in what is called Orlando (Disney's property is really located in Lake Buena Vista, but its really a part of Orlando). If you are talking about coming from downtown Orlando, it is about half hour to 45 minutes south. If you are coming from the Orlando Airport, its about 30 minutes southwest.

Its in Lake Buena Vista, FL which is practically in Orlando and if you were to start from Downtown Orlando to EPCOT, I'd say about 25 minutes, depending on traffic.

Epcot is a part of Walt Disney World which is officially in Lake Buenta Vista but most people say that Disney is in Orlando. Downtown Orlando is about 45 to hour from Disney World and most people stay in Kissimmee which is outside of Orlando and that's about 30 min from Kissimmee to Disney. It's about as close as you can get without stay AT Disney (which I recommend). (there are some hotels in Celebration which is even closer though). I listed Disney and Kissimmee's sites below.

Disney World's actually in Lake Buena Vista... but it's so close to Orlando, many refer to it as the home of WDW. It's probably only a few minutes, depending on the traffic, your mode of transportation (bus or car,) and how well you know the Orlando area.
