My son is a major head sweater, too. The pedi said it was normal. It's a family trait that has been passed down from my Dad's family.
The other day I was cooking in the kitchen with the A/C off and I had some sweat dripping down my cheek. My son (2 yrs old) looked at me and said 'I sorry' because he thought I was crying. Had to share that because I thought it was too cute not to.

Not sure why you put towels under his head... Towels create a lot of heat. they are warm.... try to stay away from the towels and he might sweat less... keep the crib mattress with only the sheet and that might help.. Good luck!

Is his breathing irregular, or is he very restless during sleep?
If he looks peaceful during sleep, he is probably okay.
My daughter used to sweat a lot during sleep. I would have thought her diaper leaked, but all the liquid was around her head.

One things for sure...make sure that you keep your little one hydrated during the day.And remember to keep giving him alot of water, pedialyte or even alittle gatorade so that he won't dehydrate on you and end up in the hospital. And ask your pediatrician the same question to ease your mind.

I'm sure it's normal, but dress him light and keep him cool at night. If it's bothering you, check with your pediatrition. Can't hurt.
