Do you mean building stuff, or Freemasons? I have no idea what you mean, so I can't explain it, so I'll just put two links down and hope one is the one you want.

Masonry is a belief system which ante-dates Christ. Supposedly, the original temple builders, the workers who constructed Solomon's temple in Jerusalem, were the first Masons. To be a Mason, one must believe in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob but not necessarily believe in Jesus Christ. There are rituals and regulations involved in Masonry and presumably, if a person chooses not to abide by them, he can be cast out. These rituals include, but are not limited to, special handshakes, symbols worn on underwear and secret rites which aren't supposed to be shared with non-Masons.
The founder of the Latter Day Saints, Joseph Smith, was a Mason, and that's where he got some of his peculiar ideas. It is crucial to remember that Masonry is seen as a complement to Christianity. In other words, Masons will say that a person can be a Christian and a Mason also. My own personal feeling is that this is a false representation of Masonry as again, a person does not have to confess Jesus Christ to be a Mason, but a person MUST confess Jesus Christ to be a Christian.
