Lots of good Asian food in OC.
When I think exotic, though, I think Arabic or African food. Something to try, if you haven't already, is Ethiopian food. You eat it with your hands. It's a lot of fun if you're in a group and they're into trying new things. This place looks good:

I have not personally tried these two Moroccan restaurants, but they'd be worth a look also, if they're still open:
Almaghreb Restaurant. 23700 El Toro Road, El Toro 92630. 714-859-9393. (Moroccan).
Marrakesh. 1100 W. Coast Highway, Newport Beach 92663. 714-645-8384. (Moroccan).

Well somthing different is Shabu Shabu located at the Block of Orange at Koji's. Or a better Shabu place is in Fountain Valley called California Shabu.
If you want upscale Hawaiian, there's Roy's in Fashion Island.
The food is great but bring a thick wallet!

Try Javier's Cantina & Grill in Laguna Beach. Great Mexican food and drinks, beach-like ambience. Not Asian though. Great place for a date.

Katana is in LA (Hollywood-ish maybe??). Very exotic. Japanese, sushi, skewers, grilling, great atmosphere, etc.
I also liked a small Peruvian restaurant near Inglewood. Not flashy or expensive, but authentic and divine!
