In this day, would George Washington, Thomas Payne or any of the other "founding fathers" have been cinsidered terrorists? Same for Robt E Lee, etc, etc, would they?

A terrorist is someone who intentionally kills innocent civilians to get media attention. They fight while hiding in mosques, churches, schools and hospitals. They kidnap unarmed people for political and media publicity.
terrorists are not above going into hospitals and shooting wounded women and children.
In short, terrorists tend to target those people least able to defend themselves.
I don't think Washington or Payne shot at the British while hiding behind the skirts of women.

According to Yahoo!Education, a terrorist is someone who unlawfully use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons.
According to this definition, our current leader in Washington D.C. is a terrorist, because of his unlawful use or threat of use of force or violence.

to me personally, a terrorist is anyone who uses FEAR as a tool to control someone or try to gain a certain result.
for arguments sake then the American government could be participating in terroristic activity to get you to buckle your seatbelt, or not take drugs. or the church could be terroristic in telling you if you don't live a certain way you're going to hell.
of course there is a level at which it become violent which is generally not as tolerated by society.
as to the question of our forefathers, i'm sure the British considered them terrorists but a "terrorist" is rarely self-titled. if a group of people in say, Puerto Rico, decided they didn't want to pay unfair United States taxes anymore and started dumping tea in the bay they'd probably be called terrorists. so i guess my answer is yes.

I believe that a terrorist is someone who uses fear as a tool for furthering their cause. However, these days we also lump in the fact that they don't mind killing innocent people or themselves, so no I don't believe those other people would be considered terrorists.

I think everyone would be considered a terrorist. ANyone who hosted a slave, anyone who was causing harm to the U.S...we had a lot of corrupt people back then and we still do.

A terrorist is someone who uses innocent people as pawns in his attempt to press his cause forward. He is willing to kill, maim, and abuse men, women and children in an anonymous and cowardly bid to cause established governments to capitulate.
