I'm looking for a laptop that I can play games on.. Sims etc. Is there such a thing ?

My current laptop, a 2 year old compaq is very slow. I was told I wouldn't find a laptop to play my games on. Is this true, or are they so expensive as to be prohibitive? I'm not a stationary person, so I'd prefer something that will travel with me. Any chance I don't have to buy a desktop? If I do, what exactly am I looking for?

All laptops can play some games and virtually all new laptops can play the common games like SIMS.

Look on the box of the games you want to play. It will tell you the computer specs you need for smooth play (cpu clock speed, amount of RAM, hard-drive space required, peripheals, etc). It will all be written there very clearly.

Then make sure each laptop you consider has the required stuff. Sometimes the game will list the "minimum" requirements as well as the "recommended" requirements. Often, the minimum not allow smooth, full featured play.

yes, there is. i would probably recommend a compaq or a dell,but any recent laptop will work. When you purchase or recieve it, though, make sure it has a recent graphics card, because new laptop or not, the graphics card will make a good difference, and newer laptops always have better graphics cards. The dell i have was 500 dollars, and plays games perfectly and came with a 3 hour battery. Obviously we are in a time of great technology, so any laptop you purchase, cheap or expensive as a space shuddle will be able to play games.

A desktop will always be better for games, mainly cos you can upgrade them. But you can get laptops that will do the same job if you pay a bit more. Mainly you're looking for a good graphics card and lots of RAM. Last time I looked, Dell made the better ones, or maybe Acer.. but that was a year ago at least. you'll be looking at about $1200 at least.

labtops are small in size and because of that there electronics is limited...not a lot of room in side of them but you can get one that is upgraded. and put alot of memory in to it so it will not slow down...remember sales men and women just want to sell so call a computer tech store..not a sales men or women ...good luck
