Although it really depends on what income you're looking for (as to the qualifications required), there is a sure-fire way to get hired in almost any type of economic environment:

Find out exactly what the hiring manager's needs are (goals, objectives, concerns, issues, etc.) and show him/her how you can help them address these needs in a cost-effective way. If *you* don’t know how you can help them, they won’t figure it out - and won’t hire you.

It may seem to take more work to get that information, but if you walk in prepared to show them how you can make their life SO much easier, you will stand out above everyone else. Not only that… you don’t need to “look” for job openings. Just look for specific needs!

From my experience the quick-hire jobs are the ones with low pay. If there are also no benefits they will hire you when you apply.
