Dear YAHOO User,

Because of the sudden rush of people signing up to YAHOO, it has come to our attention that we are vastly running out of resources. So, within a month's time, anyone who does not receive this email with the exact subject heading, will be deleted off our server. Please forward this email so that we know you are still using this account.
We want to find out which users are actually using their YAHOO accounts. So if you are using your account, please pass this e-mail to every YAHOO user that you can and IF YOU DO NOT PASS this letter to anyone we will delete your account.

From Mr. ALLEN SMITH
YAHOO Admin. Dept.

Our YAHOO system is getting to crowded!! We need you to forward this to at least 20 people. I know this seems like a large number, but we need to find out who is really using their account. If you do not send this to at least 10 YAHOO members, we will delete your account. Sorry for this inconvenience.

There's several things about this e-mail that obviously make no sense. Yahoo! doesn't need you to be forwarding e-mails to know that your account is active, they know when you log in, and once logged in they can track your usage of the site. Also, from what this e-mail says at the bottom, anyone who did not know at least 10 other Yahoo! members would have their account deleted. So it's a good thing that the e-mails a fake, since I don't know of anyone else that has a Yahoo! e-mail account.

This and several different versions of this email have been in circulation for years now. It's an attempt to set forth a chain of mails from those sick minded people who find it funny. I hate those who start chain mails and pity those who are gullible enough to keep forwarding em.

I got that email years ago, did nothing, and still have my account. By now, Yahoo should be more than able to handle more accounts.

Believe me, Yahoo knows which accounts are being used. They would not send out such a letter.

They can tell if you are using your account without you forwarding this email.

This is a spoof email. Someone is trying to get you to share email addresses with them for SPAM purposes.
