a suggestion, write something about your grandpa... who is he, how is he, maybe a picture of him,.. to get to know the artist better.
hm... I would prefare another background colour, or generally some more fresh and lively colours.
I know it's your grandpa but still :-P
Does the pictures have names? If you know the year he painted the pictures write them also.
good luck!

Nice site. I think:
The picture slideshow should go above the text.
The rate of pictures should be slower.
The pictures (thumbnails) themselves need to be brighter (or maybe that's just my monitor). You could do that quite simply with gamma correction in a photo editor (e.g. paint shop pro, photoshop).
When you click on one of the thumbnails in the slideshow, you should get a larger version of the picture.
The coming soon logo should be a GIF, not a JPG (that's what's making it look grainy). You'll need to re-do it or get the original (re-saving it won't work).
You could also add some information about the pictures, perhaps with an anecdote of how it came into your family's possession, how it was painted, what was going on in your Grandfather's life at the time, etc.
Hope that's constructive.
