For long range shots u should use the interior part of your foot , very close to the end of your foot .
Clearing kick the middle of it .
And penalty any part of the foot as long as it is a accurate shot !

You have to understand that soccer is a mind game. It all starts in the mind. You can use any part of your body to kick the ball all you need to do is kick it real hard. A header too is ok. As for penalty kicks there is no any other place other than your feet. Trust yourself and you can do it.

for ripping a hard shot, make sure your plant foot is next to your ball. when you come through and strikekick with the top part along the line of your "big toe". Once kicked, land on your "kicking" foot to ensure the maximum power. this one takes practice to get a firm kick. at first it will seem like this kick does nothing, but with practice it will work.

for long range shots, like crossing the field, just come at an angle and kick the ball, with your head up and leaning semi-back. this stature will make the ball go higher. although you can also step through the kick (like above)., if you just make contact and kieep your foot stiff, i have found that it makes if go even farther.

as for PKs, i use the top of the foot, it makes it harder for GK's to tell which way your going, and its more precise and powerful from that range. however, if you are having trouble with the front, try with the side of your foot. it gives just as much power and precision, only a little earier to guess.

from an experienced player: Basically anyone will tell you the interior part of your foot, but that would be one of the ways to kick for example a pass. once you are a very skilled player, there is no really way of kicking it, meaning that u kick it with any part of the foot for the direction that u want. for example if u want to pass by faking it, then u should kick with the exterior.( penaltys and free kicks are mostly with the interior,( only very skilled players will do the exterior))

In england, at the lowest levels they teach you to shoot with your laces and lean over the ball. Shooting is pretty inconsistant in general. I play at a decent level of football, and i personally strike it half way along the bone/line from the big toe to the middle of the ankle (looking down on your foot). But i suppose everyone has their own technique

here's the basics.
side for pass, laces for shot.
fot penalties, you don't wanna take a hard shot, you want an acurate shot, so you would place it, and then usually pass it into the net.
for a nice powerfull shot, you gotta put all your power into it, and kick it with your laces. not your toes, because you can't accurately kick the ball with your toe
does that help?

....... weird.

Why dont you try kicking the ball with.

the inside of the side of your foot
outside of the side of your foot
the top of your foot

if you want to keep the ball down whe striking.
put your standing foot inline with the ball as you run up and strike pull back your leg as far as possible.
strike the ball with the inside top corner of your foot and try to get as much of the top of the foot on the centre of the ball.

good luck,

kind regards, Diego F Maradonna Esq.
