the bottom line is you have to live your life if you decide to go with someone elses idea of what is right for you then you blame them if you do something because you are told to do something else then you blame yourself. if you dont like the label of Arrogant, haughty and stuborn then you should look closly at what you have done to earn the label the bottom linre is you have lived your life the way you decided to live it. you can always change your way of making decisions but you shuld never look back and regret any you hav already made. work on relating to other and you can turn things around. remember thaat you are not alone and that others do care about you. talk to every one you can about how you are feeling some one may have good advice that you may agree will help. your self image.

going to college is not a bad career decision. You just opened more career opportunities with that.
i'm not clear though about "going against everyone".
anyway, you don't actually need to take everyone's advice. but then, from time to time, you have to listen to what other people say, because they probably see you objectively (specially if they see you heading in the wrong direction and they are the people who care about you most, they are probably the best source for advice).
You have to learn to level-off with people too. keep your feet on the ground. Be humble. Use your stong points, try to improve your weak points, thank those who help you through and pat yourself in the back from time to time.
But you also have to learn to trust everyone. A person can never see how much powder she has on her face until she looks in the mirror... let those who care about you most be your reflection...

Odd, you say you don't want to hear advice, but yet you seek it here.
What you don't want to hear is advice that is contrary to your current plans. And that's not necessarily bad, if . . .
you're working toward a goal that is truly something you want to achieve and their advice is contrary to that. Follow your dream
or
The advice is from people you do not respect.
or
your current path, regardless of other opinions, is not harmful to you or others (watch out for this one, it's tricky)
If you do not have personal goals, set them, then evaluate advice based on those goals. If you are around people you do not respect, ingore them, and seek out advice from those you do. If your path is harmful to yourself or others, redirect your life, and consider the advice, though annoying, as possibly being worthy of consideration. In this case, you may need to take a leap of faith.
In all cases, consider the source and purpose of the advice. You may get bad advice for the right reason. For example - Someone advising you to eat healthier might be telling you this because you're gaining weight. The "eat healthier" part might not be your path, but you might consider what prompted the advice to be worth considering (Mom's are famous for this).
Good Luck
