This is my standard answer......... go get a book called Taking Charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler. It will help you understand your body and all the myths about it. It will help you time when you are ovulating and the best times to conceive. My Doctor recommended it to me and after 1 year of trying I got the book. It worked the very next month. It turns out that my timing was wrong due to mis-information. I hope it helps you, too! It's not only about getting pregnant. It's about knowing your body and knowing when you are fertile or not. You can pick and choose what you do with your info. Good luck and don't listen the all the myths!

I agree with Jachooz. Get that book. I used it and with the information I got from it I was able to figure out that I had a problem. I have Poly cystic Ovarian Syndrome. It took 2 1/2 years and 3 doctors to get pregnant. My third doctor looked at the blood work done by the first doctor and diagnosed me in about 10 seconds. We treated it and I got pregnant within 6 months.
My second bit of advice is to find yourself a really good doctor, preferably one who specializes in infertility. Even if your insurance won't cover infertility treatments, they will usually cover doctors appointments and diagnostic procedures. I had to have dye injected into my fallopian tubes to see if they were blocked. The insurance company paid for it. You may also want to make sure you know exactly what tests and procedures are covered and which aren't. Get it in writing to cover your behind if they try to deny coverage on something.
You may also want to do a search for infertility support groups on the Internet. The women on these boards are usually pretty knowledgeable about some of the problems women have in conceiving. I used fertilityfriend.com I think I had to pay for it, but I used it to chart my temps and it would tell me when my most fertile days were so I didn't have to figure it out on my own. I hope that helped. Good luck and I hope you get pregnant soon! =)

If you've been trying for years it's time to get some type of fertility test done for both of you. Usually the doctors will tell you to try for one year and if you don't get pregnant you should seek professional help. Even if your husband has two kids from a previous relationship his little soldiers can still change and be slower (stress, or if he smokes or drinks, can all contribute to a change in the sperm motility). Good Luck!

Well 4 months ago I was in a similar situation, although i'm not 30, I understand what you're going through, My fiancee and I had been trying for 2 months, and everytime my period came around I would get depressed, but I never quit having hope..Eventually I just tracked my ovulation day, and had sex those 3-4 days in a row, and I got pregnant, and i'm four months pregnant today..Man on top is best..It is most effective..Then elevate your hips for around 30 minutes..And take care of yourself, eat right, if you smoke or drink quit, your fertility goes up if you take care of yourself better than you are..

Try different homeopathic or even acupuncture, these are both less expensive than fertility treatments, even if they're not covered by insurance. These options may sound too unorthodox, but I have heard that it can work for some people. Do some research on the internet too, you never know what you may find.

wait two weeks b4 and two week after your period, i do know that they sell an ovulation detection urine collector in pharmacies. i don't remember the name, i used it over 5 years ago. it lets your know when your ovulating, which is a great time to get pregnant. and i suggest using a pillow under you hips while ur on your back and he's on top of you, and after each time you have sex, while in that position or in any other one stay laying down and try to raise your legs on a wall and shift your hips up as far as you can, and stay like that for about 5 to 10 min.

A technique that has been passed down in my family is that right before you and your husband try to conceive insert an ice cube into yourself and then try to conceive. The cold from the ice preserves the sperm and allows them to reach your eggs and still be alive to penetrate. I have had two friends do this and this is how they have had all their babys!

The best way to get pregnant is to stop trying. when you put pressure on yourself or spouse to perform "Hit one out of the park", it causes stress. Relax, enjoy the experience and think only about each other when being intimate.
