And people wonder why the Giants aren't scoring runs.......

No one should be surprised. In the early years of the Mets, the biggest draws were the Los Angeles (ex-Brooklyn) Dodgers and the San Francisco (ex-New York) Giants. Animosity was directed toward the owners, Walter O'Malley and Horace Stoneham, and players who had not been with the teams back in the 1950s, such as Gaylord Perry. Willie Mays worship never ended, even during the San Francisco years; the first day he played as a Met in Shea Stadium he received four standing ovations. Most ex-Mets were fondly cheered back then, too.

The same occurs in most other cities; when a popular player returns with another team, assuming he did not insult the fans by leaving, he will get a warm welcome. However, with the prevalence of free agency, this happens less often: Alex Rodriguez will be reviled in Seattle forever.

When Tom Seaver asked to be traded from the Mets, it was the Mets front office that caught hell, not Seaver. In fact, when he pitched his 300th victory against the Yankees some years later, his White Sox teammates were somewhat disconcerted because Yankee Stadium was filled with Mets fans, who chanted "Let's go, Mets" when the Sox were batting.

Carlos Delgado being a gentleman, of course he is still loved in Toronto. I will cheer him in Seattle. Class acts are always appreciated.

Not really, he didn't leave on bad terms, didn't asked to be traded, he just played and when his contract ran out the Jays could have matched the Marlins offer but decided to go in another direction.
