First, you might want to consider yourself lucky....I hate mine!

Are you very athletic or fit? Having a low body weight can effect the amount of times you get your period.

When did you start, just recently or when you were younger? It takes years for a girl's period to regulate, so your body may still be trying to adjust to all the new hormones.

Are you taking any type of birth control? It can be prescribed for terrible cramps, to assist in regulating a woman's cycle and/or the obvious one--to prevent babies!

Every woman is different and obviously that includes our hormones....if you're worried about it, talk to your doctor. He/she could run some tests and find out if it's normal, or if you need to be on some sort of medication. I'm guessing it's just your norm.

Good luck and I hope you find the answers you were looking for!

it runs in my family. I got help as in birth control as a hormone regulator. My one cousin would go a whole year with one maybe two periods that didn't last long. So when she got pregnant at 20 she had no clue for the longest time. I would go see a doctor though.

I've heard of that, but you only miss periods if your on birth control. Some people don't come on at all like me I don't come on at all cause I'm on birth control. Some people have what they call an irregular period.I had it once before I got on birth control.Your period comes on sometimes and skips months or may come on twice a month. What you're going through is called an irregular period if your not on birth control and you should go see a doctor.

Yes, are you very active?
Back when the wagon trail times, people would walk for hundreds or thousands of miles, women would stop menses.
Have you taken birth control? this could do it. My stepdaughter took the pregnancy shot. she had the same problem

You should talk to a doctor. Are you very underweight? Anorexics don't get regular periods.

My girlfriend has this kind of thing. She gets her period like once every four or five months. It's a good thing though :):)

You need to see a doctor to see why. polycystic ovarian syndrome is one reason to be irregular and it can lead to things like diabetes and high blood pressure
