I had PR sex with my boyfriend on april 3rd, the smae week that i forgot my patch. I had two very irregular periods since then. I thought that i could possibly be pregnant, but I took HPT( well actually 7), and they all came back neg. I had some pink spotting in between periods which was really abnormal for me. I developed these rather big bumps(they look like welps when my nipples are hard) on my areola. I went to the doctor for this, and he gave me a urine test which came back neg. Again I thought the coast was clear, but then came another irregular period(bleeding on and off for a few days). My breast have been swollen for the entire three months. And I have sudden sharp pains in them. I also have period cramping even though my period isnt do for another 3 weeks. I havea doc appt for tomorrow, but I dont know what to expect. I still think I might be pregnant even though all of the tests came back neg. Im so worried Can anyone please bring me some relief with an explanation?

if you had sex in April and you think thats when you possibly got pregnant and you took a test recently and it was negative then chances are that u r not pregnant. it could be the missed dose of birth control of the patch that has you irregular, remember that you forgot ur patch so that does throw your body off track. just to be on the safe side get checked have a pap smear done and have them run some test cause it can always be something else.

This is my standard answer......... go get a book called Taking Charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler. It will help you understand your body and all the myths about it. It will help you time when you are ovulating and the best times to conceive. My Doctor recommended it to me and after 1 year of trying I got the book. It worked the very next month. It turns out that my timing was wrong due to mis-information. I hope it helps you, too! It's not only about getting pregnant. It's about knowing your body and knowing when you are fertile or not. You can pick and choose what you do with your info. Good luck and don't listen the all the myths!

It sounds like you might be having some side effects from the patch. I don't know how long you have been on it, but sometimes just out of no where your hormones freak out and start messing with you.

Maybe just to make yourself feel safer, use a spermicide or condom until things calm down? Good luck, I'm sure the doc will help you sort things out.

i can not explain the bumps, but the reason for your irregular cycle is likely due to mixed signals in your body due to forgetting your patch. when u adjust the hormones in your body with birth control, your body must adapt to the changes. so, when you don't take your birth control, your body must adapt again. this also happens when u 1st start birth control or change kinds. take a deep breath and wait it out. your cycle will adjust itself in a while. since swollen breast are a symptom of menstruation, they will be swollen and a little tender until hormone balance is back to normal.
