Seems to me that most movies have the same plot. A woman is getting beaten, raped, abused, tourtured, handcuffed, cheated on, spit on by her husband, children, friends, sisters, mom, or some combination of these for the first 80 minutes. Then in the last 5 minutes, she stands up for herself, and fixes the problem, and the police show up to save the day. end of movie... Do women like to watch other women go through this? Does this make you feel better about your own lives? How does it make you feel?

No. I think it is ridiculous and dangerous. It is always showing the type of movies that you describe and it feeds into the crazy feminist theories that all men are evil. Why don't they show movies about strong women properly raising a family? Guess that's not PC.

Spike TV isn't much better though. It assumes that all men are beer drinking morons who only like violence and scantily clad women. Enough with the stereotypes already.

BTW, I'm female. My husband chose the avatar.

it's true though. i was over a friend's house and for some reason we ended up watching a movie like that. the husband was abusive, and the woman tried to get out and she ended up getting killed. when i went home i turned it on again, different movie, same plot, same actors. kind of weirded me out. i never really watch it though. i'd have to say some women watch it because maybe that's what's happening to them and it makes them feel like they're not alone. personally it bores me.

well I guess In my opinion that women love to watch lifetime is because they can identify with the women in those movies. Then when the heroin finally stands up for them self they feel empowered. They cry a little bit for what the women has gone through and then again when she finally wins her battle.

Sure most of the movies have the same plot on Lifetime, but so does the other movies in the theater, soaps, sitcoms, reality shows. I do enjoy Lifetime movies best on the weekend.

It shows true everyday situations. Maybe they watch it to see what the person ends up doing to see how they can solve their own problem. It shows them that what they are going through happens all the time and may shed some light on some answers for them.

I just watch The Nanny, The Golden Girls and Unsolved Mysteries on Lifetime. I don't watch the movies, they're too depressing.

I can't stand watching it because of all the horrible things that always happens to the woman like you pointed out. I like true stories and where the underdog succeeds, but I would much rather watch something funny and continuously uplifting.

I almost never watch Lifetime television. The shows are kind of cheesy. I like Spike TV better.
