I think it's stupid too. Your parents were raised during segregation of just after. Their way of thinking is leftover remnants of the past.
I am one of their generation - I'm pleased to read young yahoo surfers are more tolerant than their parents. My grand children may not face the pain I and many others felt.

Personally I think that there is enough stress on couples and marriages, without there being cultural pressures too. Every race has a different culture, and in my grandparents day, even two Caucasian nationalities like Italian and Germans descents did not get along, and it was always forcing stress on their marriage which finally broke up.
Now the Europeans have become molded into Americans, but the Blacks and Latinos are isolating their customs and languages just like the various European nationalities did.

You are right, it is completely stupid. But you yourself said that you don't get along with people of other races, so you are being a little prejudiced yourself. Your family will have to eventually get over it, or they won't. Your sister will have to decide what is more important. I have been in an interracial relationship for three years, and I couldn't be happier. Some people just won't accept it though. i think it will always be like that.

There's nothing wrong with it, HOWEVER....they need to think of the future. There will be extra pressure on them simply because of the racial issue. Hopefully they both have the character and the thick skin needed to deal with the people and other issues that they'll face in life.
But if they're not strong enough to deal with it for LIFE without ending up attacking each other, then there's no way they should consider marriage. They should NOT rush into anything, especially marriage.

Yes, of course. My wife is mixed Irish and Hispanic. I am Chinese. Since both my wife and I know how to cook, we can always make food of our own ethnicities. I am taking her to Hong Kong (where I am originally from) and Beijing this August. My wife has never been to that part of the world; so, she is pretty excited about it. If not because of me, she probably would never go to that part of the world. Let's just put it this way, if not because of our different races, both my wife and I would have never had certain amazing experiences in life.

I never understood why we can breed a cocker spaniel with a poodle, cross pollenate flowers to create a completely new flower, but it's not ok for two people to get together...? *sigh* If they really love each other, that is the most important thing. People are people, and love is hard enough to find. The world isn't going to change until we make it change. Blessings to them!

I don't think it matters what others think or how they feel, who you love is your business. I think interracial babies are just as cute as any others. I know some people think that partners of another race are really a turn on - go with it - whatever works for you.
BTW, I am not attracted to men of a different race, but I am not closing myself off to it either.

My husband was black and even though we just couldn't work out our issues I still love him more than anybody in the world and our daughters are absolutely beautiful. Your family might wanna be a little more careful they could end up losing their daughter and never being able to be a part of their grandchild's life.

I think its beautiful when people can express their feelings and not bow to the status que placed on us by society. People forget the culture of america and so it seems, there isn't what they would describe a "problem" with this situation, They choose not to address it, well the "problem" is people being color blind, to the specifics of the word, BLIND TO THE COLORS AROUND YOU. They are unwilling to accept them and hence they are not there or you are blind to them. I don't believe in color blindness, its ignorance, it needs to change, be aware of the wonderous variety around you and accept it. I Think its extremly interesting to learn about other people's ways of life. I think its really sad that people of any race can simply 'dis' others becuase they are of any color.
