Lock all doors at all times. Keep spares at relatives houses and not outside somewhere. IF no relatives keep somewhere that's not easily seen or at neighbors. Don't get so drunk you forget to lock the doors.

I'd start with locks on all the doors and windows. If that is not sufficient, then you need a protective dog and/or a gun. If you do not wish to own a dog or a gun, then try to make your neighbor's house more appealing to random, strange and sometimes scary people and they will go there instead.

If you have random, strange and sometimes scary people wandering into your home then there is probably something about you that is attracting them. And since I don't know you, I can't help you with that.

Locks are effective. So is the approach of, "I'm sorry. I am busy right now. Perhaps I could invite you over at a more convenient time. This is your home. You pay the bills, I assume, and assume the liability for the property you live on. Look around for some back-bone and stand up for your rights.

Move. Or put a fence and gate up. Or put a huge dog dish that looks used recently on the porch along with a pair of BIG boots. That should be a deterrent.

Well, if they managed to get past my dogs and double locked doors and windows, my next step would be to introduce them to "Mr. 12 Gauge" and his little "00" friends. I don't know of anyone who could ignore him!
