trying to install SP2. Installation starts, appears to run OK, then a window popped up that said Service Pack 2 Installation Access is Denied. It then takes you through the Uninstallation Wizard which I did. Finally, Service Pack 2 Setup Error Service Pack 2 installation did not complete. Windows XP has been partially updated and may not work properly

Make sure you have the proper Service Pack for your pc. If you accidentally said you have a w2000 and you have XP...then the XP wouldn't install. Double check.

Don't fight it. Do all the Window updates that are listed for your puter. If after Microsoft scans your puter for missing updates and suggests SP2, then it should take it. If not, getting all the suggested updates will have you very close to having SP2 and you should motor along with no problems.
