1/16 = 8/128
so 11/128 is a little more than 1/16
1/4 is the same thing as 32/128
1/16 = .0625
11/128 = .0859375

11/128 is nearly halfway between 1/16 (8/128) and 1/8 (16/128). It is very close to 3/32 (12/128).

What all this fractional mess basically means in plain English is that, if you go back seven generations you have 128 great- great- great- great- great- grandparents, and 11 out of those 128 g-g-g-g-g-gramps are "full-blooded" Indian.

Actually it can be more complicated than that, such as 10 full-blooded and 2 half-blooded out of 128 (any fractional sum that adds up evenly to 11 out of 128), but I doubt that is the case.

MOST LIKELY the person who adjusted you from 1/16 Indian to 11/128 Indian just found 3 more full-blooded Indian ancestors seven generations back in your family tree (to go with the 8 out of 128 (1 out of 16) that you already knew about).

The closest, easy to remember fraction is 1/12.

1/12 = 0.0833333

11/128 = 0.0859375

This is because 11x12 = 132 which is close to 128

So 11/(11 x 12) = 1/12
