The Prime, Meridian, which runs through the eastern half of Greenland and near the west coast of Africa, cuts the Earth into two halves; the eastern and the western. The equator, which runs through northern Brazil in South America, the rainforest part of Africa, the southern tip of India, and passes right above Thailand, also cuts the Earth in half. For a quick guide, here is what each hemisphere consists of:

1. The NW Hemisphere consists of: all of North America and Central America, the western half of Greenland, and some of northern South America (Colombia, Venezuala, and a little of northern Brazil in essence). Also, most of Spain and the UK, all of Portugal and Ireland, and the western fourth of France are in the North-Western Hemisphere.
2. The SW Hemisphere consists of most of South America (most of Brazil, and all of Bolivia, Paraguay, Chile, Argentina, and Uruguay). VERY little of Western Africa is in this hemisphere; only part of the countries Western Sahara, Mauritania, Senegal, and Guinea-Bissau are in the South-Western Hemisphere. Also, the Antarctica Peninsula, along with its scattered islands near the coast, are in this hemisphere.
3. The NE Hemisphere consists of Central and Eastern Europe, most of Africa, except the southern part that looks like a protruding horn; and almost all of Asia, except for Malaysia and Indonesia.
4. Of the SE Hemisphere: there is the southern "protruding horn" of Africa, the pointed southern end of the teardrop-shaped India; all of Australia, Indoneisa, Malaysia, and the Phillipines; and most of Antarctica.
