I truly believe we carry a gene that has memories and psat thoughts from our previous generations carried through to the present day. This is my theory for those who believe they once lived the past, as they can only see what was once theyre grandparents memoirs... could my theory be possible?

I think you may be interested in reading an article by a biopsychologist named Lawrence Harper. The article proposes a theory that suggests that experiences can be inherited through genetic means. The theory does not specifically address the notion of the inheritance of particular memories, but it may prove a useful avenue for pursuing your question.

Here is the abstract from the article:

Currently, behavioral development is thought to result from the interplay among genetic inheritance, congenital characteristics, cultural contexts, and parental practices as they directly impact the individual. Evolutionary ecology points to another contributor, epigenetic inheritance, the transmission to offspring of parental phenotypic responses to environmental challenges—even when the young do not experience the challenges themselves. Genetic inheritance is not altered, gene expression is. Organismic pathways for such transmission
exist. Maternal stress during the latter half of a daughter’s gestation may affect not only the daughter’s but also grand-offspring’s physical growth. The author argues that temperamental variation may be influenced in the same way. Implications for theory and research design are presented along with testable predictions.

Racial memory is something that science has considered. As a no-scientist, i am intrigued by the possibility.

I, personally have had an uncanny interest in the ancient middle east. As a little girl, I used to watch those bible epics just to see what that ancient land and people looked like I had no interest in the stories. I also fell crazy in love with the Ancient Egyptian jewelry collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NY. when i first saw the jewelry, I had to stand up on tippy-toes to look over the edge of the case. I got a feeling of light-headedness because everything looked very familiar to me.

No. They are not always related to the people who's lives they remember, so it cannot be hereditary memory. Many widely reported cases involve people who were never related.
Behaviour is partly genetically determined, its what makes us human and not monkeys. All humans act in certain predictable ways, our repertoire is not a wide as we'd like to believe. We inherit our genes from our grandparents so its not surprising if we share certain preferences or characteristics.
Part of our behaviour is also learned, we learn from our families so certain behaviour traits also run in families.
Hereditory memory is called instinctive behaviour, animals use it all the time. Some scientists deny that we have any instincts at all.

In the countless cases of people who believe they have lived past lives, there have been a few who have believed that they were somebody who had actually died recently - somebody who's relatives still existed, who they had nothing in common with, and, someone they shared no genes with.

It is interesting to note however that in 10% of heart transplant patients, patients have exhibited traits of their donors, sometimes inherited memories and in some cases, even inherited talents they never had before.

Somtimes the same has been seen in lung and liver recipients.

After seeing the evidence, it's actually quite hard to disbelieve that memories and other parts of your mental make-up aren't properties of the brain alone.

There's a film on UK TV, Channel 4 about it on Monday.

I don't think that once my soul lived a life in the past .. its bcoz i believe that God created me to live one time and test me and then to go either to hell or paradise .. but i always feel that there is a frequency in peoples life and characters and even in how do people look like .. i believe that in a different age there was a girl who lived like i live .. and a girl who looks like me .. maybe she lived like me and looked as i look ..

About your theory .. i say why not ?? it might be possible .. you know ! once i heard something which explains this too. but i am not sure of what i heard .. it was that before creating our bodies and life started on Earth .. God gathered the souls of all human being and showed every soul the life it will live ( of course this doesnt mean that God wanted us to do or not to do ,, its just becoz he created us and knows us better than we do so he knew from the begining what we are going to do ).. this is used to explain the feeling that you have done this b4, that you feel that you passed in the same situation b4, that you feel that you know this person or met him b4 .. i am not sure of it anyway i wanted to say other thoughts which explain the same wondering ..

could be. i also wonder as our bodies decompose back in into the grounds, hundreds and thousands of years later if our memories are returned to the earth as well. Then, memories in ground, cow eats grass grown over ground, person eats cow, and the cirlce of life brings memories.

personally, i think your theory is more likely, but hell, why not take giant leaps once in a while.

Just remember peep's brains are made of marshmallow fluff, just like the rest of them. It's hard to believe that have deep thoughts about anything.
