My calculator is of the brand name Texas Instruments and its model is TI-30X-IIS. (The II are the Roman Numerals for 2.) When I try to use Tangest, Sine, and Cosine on my calculator, some of the answers come out as negative. This is impossible and I am convinced that my calculator is messed up. How can I put it back to normal? P.S. On the Zero button, it says Reset above that, but I don't know what I should click Zero with to reset it.

Thank you very much to anyone who answers; I have a Math Placement test tomorrow and I don't want to get to Bobo just because of my calculator!

Actually, when the answers come out as negative, it's calculating in radians. So the sine of 6 is negative, as it is actually calculating about 324 degrees.

2nd+0 resets your calculator, but i don't recommend it.

Perhaps you have your mode set to something else other than degrees, such as radians. Do you see the little text on your calculator screen? It should say 'DEG', for degrees. Fiddle around with your calculator until you get the button that changes the small text to 'DEG'(that is, if you are working with degrees. If not, switch it to whatever measurement you are working with).

I hope this helps! Good luck with your exam!

By the way, if you can't figure it out tonight, you can always go to your math teacher and ask if he or she knows how to fix it. If not, I'm sure they will let you borrow a school calculator!

To reset the calculator, hit (2nd), then (0). Make sure that if the Sin, Cos, and Tan symbols are above the buttons, you hit (2nd) then the one you want to use. You may have just been hitting the inverse of the functions. EX: Tan^(-1)

you're calculator is definitely in radians mode... you need to switch it to degrees... 2nd - mode - and underline DEG and hit enter... try sine 45 and you should get 1.
