I'd say no. A bad alignment will trash your tires quick, give you a bad ride, and can impact your steering, but shouldn't break your wires.

But if you are thinking of not getting one, I'd say get the alignment. It will cost way less in the long run.

edit: I think you'd really have to have a serious alignment issue to create that kind of side force to cause them to break.

Yes, but not immediately. The spokes get loose if there's a constant side load, which wears out your tires sooner and makes for some hellacious vibrations when you drive down the road.

(Well... in my experience, the spokes get loose eventually no matter how careful you are. Wire wheels are a lot of trouble to keep clean; if you have the old-style knock-off wheels, you have to keep the splines greased to prevent rust; you have to check the spokes every year and tighten them, and every few years they need to be "trued" by a shop that knows how. And they look just so cooooooooool... Glad I had a car with wires, glad I don't now.)
