They are related, but they are not opposites, as many people think. They are both very strong feelings and are both indicators that someone feels strongly about a person or thing, like poverty or prejudice. The song "Thin Line Between Love and Hate" describes the reason you can love someone and, in a split second, turn around and say u hate the person. If love and hate were opposites, the change from L to H would take a long time. Luckily we can switch back from H to L again, sometimes with just an apology or a bunch of flowers. P.S. At the opposite end of the spectrum is Indifference, which is the polar opposite of L & H.

An old saying says, "There is a fine line between love and hate". Look at little girls that have crushes on little boys. They punch, hit, pinch, trip and chase them. The boys all cry to their mom's and teachers that the girls are mean to them and hate them. But when you talk to the little girls, they say they "love them". Hate and love are both strong emotions that sometimes get confused. That could explain why so many people say they hate their exes, when they once loved and cherished them. When someone you love hurts you, that hate emotion comes very quickly. When a stranger does something to anger you, your hate emotion is not as strong. So, yes I agree love and hate are related.

Love and hate are considered diametrically opposed, in total opposition and irreconcilable. However absolute love does not exist, nor does absolute hate — they are relative one to the other. Both are no more than terms applied to two poles of the same thing. Beginning at any point on the scale, you can find "more love" or "less hate" by ascending, or "less love" by descending. This is a certainty that is true regardless of where we start on the scale. Many degrees of both love and hate exist on the spectrum and it could even be said that there is a halfway point where pleasure and aversion are so intermingled that one cannot distinguish them. Sometimes we “love to hate” someone, or “hate to love” someone, which is very true isn’t it?

Totally. There is a very thin line beween love and hate.Great love and great hate can jump from one to the other, or dwadle in the middle of the line. That is why the best thing to do when someone likes you but you don't like them is to ignore them and not even get onto a hate relationship.

Love and Hate are related because both are a matter of Free Will. Choosing to Love is a choice from the Divinity portion of your spirit. To Hate is a choice from the Ego portion of your conscious mind. Both, are a matter of your free will to choose.

Opposite sides of the same coin they say. Both raise strong but opposite emotions. I am not sure that there is a direct relationship though. It doesn't follow that if you stop loving somebody you will start hating them. Or vice versa.

I would agree. Love is considered good, but can be bad. Hate is considered to bad, but can be good.
For example: You can love to beat women.
You can hate women beaters.
So both are intertwined in some way or another.

I would say that they're opposites. (which is a "duh" point but still). It's pretty tough to love someone (or something) and yet hate it at the same time. We say that it's possible, but really in the truest sense it shouldn't be the case. It's only because we're falliable human beings who can't love or hate perfectly, and so we're bound somewhere in between.
But generally we either LOVE or HATE something, or we're indifferent.
